Story: This article sheds light on The Gambia's ongoing migration crisis, highlighting the repatriation of over 500 Gambians from Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia between June and August 2024. Despite these returns, thousands of Gambians, including youth, women, and children, continue to embark on perilous journeys via irregular routes. Tragically, many of these journeys end in disaster, leaving families in anguish. The European Union reported that in 2023, over 9,000 Gambians, primarily youth, attempted irregular migration through the “backway.”
