Bubacarr Gaye

Bubacarr Gaye

Story: The story serves as a tool for preserving our cultural heritage. The story is about a cultural practice that has a great impact on the people of Torro Ba and beyond. It's usually a two-day event that brings together the youth of the village, including women, to reap baobab fruits that are blessed to them. This usually happens annually, but with the look of things now, it's reducing in participation, and that is part of the reasons why I conceived this particular story to remind people about the essence of guarding our cultural practices, and embracing them, as a traditional event like this plays key roles both socially and economically in our communities.
