Story: This is one of the sequels to our Yahya Jammeh assets investigation series which mainly focused on how the former president’s livestock were auctioned at knocked-down prices. Following a high court ruling for the livestock to be placed under the Gambia Livestock Management Agency, GLMA, and a professional valuer be hired by the Sheriff’s Division, my investigations found out neither of the high court rulings was honored. The Sheriff didn’t hand over the cattle to GLMA and, in a move that is still not making sense, an opposition politician livestock dealer happened to do the valuation at the auction in Kanilai. This investigation establishes the failure of the Sheriff to enforce a high ruling which led to over 700 heads of cattle sold for significantly less than the market value.
