Ousman Saidykhan

Story: The article is about Omar Sarjo - a former member of Gambia Armed Forces. He became a victim of Government's Security Sector Reform (SSR) in 2017 when he was linked to the bloodline of the Cassammance Rebel Leader, Salifu Sarjo. He was dismissed. First, he was alleged to have been a non-Gambian and later alleged to have used someone else's document to join the military. They took him to court but could not prove these claims. He then sued the Army for illegally firing him. The courts granted his prayers and said his dismissal was unconstitutional. However, the Army failed to reinstate him. They claimed the High Court did not specifically say he should be registered.
