Story: The article explains how Banjul, the Gambia’s low‐lying capital city, is becoming increasingly vulnerable to rising sea levels and intensified flooding. Key physical threats include erosion, degradation of mangroves and wetlands (notably the Tanbi Wetland), and damage to homes, livelihoods and infrastructure. Environmental stress is exacerbated by human activity such as sand‐mining, mangrove cutting, and poor ecosystem protection.
