BIOGRAPHY

Aminata E. Sanyang is a multi-award winning Journalist, she works at the Gambia Radio and Television services (GRTS), in the News & current affairs department as a producer, current affairs program presenter & Reporter.

She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of The Gambia. Aminata has an incredible work ethic that inspired her delegation to multiple production and editorial roles at GRTS, where her brilliant focus and diligence helped to immensely shape the quality of news content and packaging.

Aminata participated in United Nations RAF Journalism fellowship, where she was trained on UN matters and had the opportunity to cover the 76th and as well the 78th UN General Assembly in the United States of America.

She was also a finalist of the Pan African Journalists Awards on Gender Equality pioneered by Femnet in Nairobi. Aminata is INMA 30 Under 30 Newsroom Award winner.

She won Media Personality of the Year Award 2023 by She Awards. One of her greatest strengths is her ability for human interest coverage, especially focused on solution driven angles, she has displayed an incredible verve in engaging with issues .

Aminata is a natural broadcaster and a great writer whose experience in broadcasting have proven immensely beneficial for the Newsrooms content development efforts.

She is the author of the book dubbed “The Era” and co-authored an anthology dubbed “A Harvest of Gambian lines”, published by the global hands UK. Aminata is the founder of Gambia’s biggest children platform dubbed Kids Podium, where children are given exposure to public speaking.

Aminata is one of the top West African Journalists selected by the Media Foundation for West Africa Digital Public Infrastructure Journalism Fellowship.
