Momodou Lamin Choi is a senior reporter working for the Gambia’s premiere private television network, QTV with more than 5 years’ experience in the field of journalism. Mr. Choi is a stringer for CGTN, an international media which broadcast to a global audience of more than 100 million viewers in over 100 countries worldwide. As a stringer for this medium, Momoodu Lamin Choi has reported to a global audience on both domestic and international affairs. Over the years, his career in journalism has marked several milestone achievements. This has earned him both local and international recognition for his professional conduct in journalism. Here is a list of the awards.

Before joining the media profession, Momodou Lamin Choi was a part-time teacher for three years at Gambia Senior Secondary School, his alma-mater, where he taught English Language, History and Government. While working as a teacher, Mr. Choi served as a teacher coordinator for the Gambia Senior Secondary School Press Club, during which Choi helped develop the communication skills of young aspiring journalists.

To further his studies and prepare for his dream professional career, Momodou Lamin Choi got admission into to the University of the Gambia School of Journalism and Digital Media in 2017. Through the UTG School of journalism, Mr. Choi received professional training and obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2021. At the university, Momodou served the UTG journalism Students Association in the positions of Assistant Secretary General and Secretary General, respectively.

Beyond academics, journalism and teaching, Momodou served charity organizations including the Humanity Youth Foundation which he would later become its president from 2017 to 2018. Recently, in 2023, Mr. Choi was one of the two local journalists who had been selected for a four month’s media exchange programme, becoming the first Gambian journalists to travel to China after the pandemic. While in China, Momodou did some courses on China affairs, including its civilization and development model. During his stay in China, Mr. Choi did a brief internship at China Global Television


where received some widely covered and reported international events and other local stories to Gambian audience.
